Update: Got it braced up a bit and wife and kids did the planting. Now we are mere months away from self sustainment! (Assuming we want to eat cucumbers, bell peppers, and tomatoes with basil and rosemary.)

M y wife finally got me to make a raised bed for a garden. Pretty simple construction, cedar framing with wire mesh on the inside. Landscape fabric and soil tomorrow (with some rocks at the bottom for drainage).

What is keeping the wire mesh from collapsing on the ends?

You’re gonna want to brace that bad boy somehow. People forget that and dump like 400-600 # of soil in it and get surprised when it starts to lean.

Put differently would you trust that to support both you and your wife even if you’re  crouching

Good point.  I’ve got a couple of 2x4s I can use to shore it up tomorrow.

We’re looking to do something similar. I will use this post as inspiration.

I wish it was warm enough to plant things outside here. That won't be the case for another month and a half.
